For tourists and fishing enthusiasts interested in Big Bear Boating activities, Big Bear Lake has excellent, well-maintained public launch ramps, operated by the Municipal Water District. The East Boat Ramp is open 7 days so if you are planning on boating or fishing on the lake Tuesday and Wednesday, this ramp is open - the Duane R Boyer Ramp to the west is closed on these two days.
This Public Launch / Boat Ramp Facility is a cooperative project funded by the State Department of Boating and Waterways. Operated and maintained by the Big Bear Municipal Water District.
Lake use permits are required for all boats on Big Bear Lake. Permit must be displayed on boat and is non-transferable.
Ramp Office Hours: 6AM - 6PM Sun - Thurs. Weekends and Holidays: 6AM to 7PM.
This is a nice place to picnic - there are shade trees and picnic tables and a beach.
PLEASE NOTE: If your boat has been in infested waters, it could be carrying invasive mussels. Zebra and Quagga Mussels attach to boats and aquatic plants carried by boats. You could unintentionally transport microscopic larvae in water held in your live well, bilge, or bait bucket. Please take precautions to help reduce the chance that these mussels will spread to uninfested areas. Zebra and Quagga Mussels are invasive species from the Black and Caspian Sea Drainages in Eurasia.
Zebra / Quagga mussels in California waters could result in an environmental and economic disaster. They can cause a shift in native species and disrupt the ecological balance of entire bodies of water. The mussels clog water pipes, coat piers, and ruin boat motors.
