The Big Bear Valley AAUW branch, whose mission it is to
advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy,
and research, elects qualifying Big Bear 8th
grade girls interested in the STEM fields—science, technology, engineering and
math—to a week-long summer camp at the University of California in San
Diego. In 2018, 10 Big Bear middle school girls were sent to Tech
Trek.
AAUW has been empowering women as individuals and as a
community since 1881.
For more than 130 years, this grassroots organization has
worked to improve the lives of millions of women and their families.
