Paul Cook Issues his Statement on Iran,
Tuesday May 8, 2018, in Washington D.C. President Donald Trump announced that the
United States was ending it's participation in the Iran Deal:
decision by President Trump to withdraw from the flawed Iran deal has been a
long time coming. From day one, it was obvious that the deal lacked meaningful
methods to verify Iranian compliance. The Obama Administration gave them
billions of dollars in cash and sanctions relief, and in return, they continued
to lie to the United States and the world about their intentions.
long past time to re-impose sanctions, rally our allies to work together to
develop a real plan to address Iranian aggression, and continue to apply
pressure on Iran. Any agreement must verifiably dismantle the Iranian nuclear
and missile programs as well as end its support for terrorism.
I stand in strong
support of working out a new deal promptly."
Congressman Paul Cook is a member of the House Armed Services, Natural Resources,
and Foreign Affairs Committees, Cook served as an infantry officer and retired
after 26 years as a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time in
combat, he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
