Valley Electric Service (BVES), Big Bear Lake, California__
5:00 P.M. Monday August 27, 2018 announced
that most of Big Bear Valley experienced an unexpected electrical outage,
affecting approximately 13,030 customers. The affected area expanded from the
south-side of Big Bear Lake, from northwest at Big Bear Dam to the east at Lake
traffic, signal lights, valley businesses, computers went dark, routers beeped
incessantly, TV reception went out, out of charge cell phones were useless, the
local radio station was bomb-barded with calls, and basically Big Bear Valley went
silent, early evening. Personally, I
took advantage of getting some peaceful sleep!
crews responded and were able to determine the location of the problem. Crews
were able to sectionalize the affected section and re-energized the majority of
customers by 6:28 P.M. The remaining customers were energized two minutes later
at 6:30 PM. Initial reports were that a bird had caused the interruption, but
crews are still investigating and repairing the affected area and the cause of
the outage is not known at the time of the release to the press, Tuesday noon.

Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES), Big Bear Lake, California__
Tuesday August 28, 2018, alerted customers in the
Village and the surrounding area that their electric service will be
temporarily interrupted, early Wednesday, August 29th and Thursday,
August 30th, so that BVES crews can complete system repairs after
the recent outage. The temporary outages will take place at 5:00 A.M. on both
days (Wednesday and Thursday) and that the service interruptions should be
limited to 10 minutes in duration.
Wednesday, August 29, 2018 – temporary outage planned from 5-5:10 A.M.
affecting customers from Summit Blvd. to Lynn Rd. and customers in the west
part of the Village.
Thursday, August 30, 2018 – temporary outage planned from 5-5:10 A.M. affecting
customers from the Village to the Big Bear Dam.
