The CIVIL AIR PATROL (CAP) was organized December 1, 1941, under the Office of Civilian Defense. CAP performed many missions during WW II, including coastal patrol to search for enemy submarines, search and rescue, cargo and courier flights and target towing for the Army Air Corps. After the creation of the USAF in 1947, Congress passed a law in 1948 permanently establishing CAP as the Auxiliary of the Air Force. Big Bear Valley Composite Squadron 6750 was formed and chartered in 1989, as a unit of the California Wing, in the Pacific Region. The local unit has both Senior and Cadet members. Senior members meet on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month at 7:00 PM. Cadet members meet on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM.
  • CIVIL AIR PATROL has three primary missions; Aerospace Education, Emergency Services, and a Cadet Program. In addition, Counter-drug and Homeland Defense missions have been recently added.
  • The CAP Cadet Programs build strong citizens by providing leadership, training, technical education, scholarships and career education to young men and women, ages 12 to 21. Cadets learn teamwork and leadership through competitions in problem-solving and physical endurance. They may also enjoy overseas travel through the International Air Cadet Exchange.
  • A headquarters building is being constructed by the local squadron at the Big Bear Airport in Big Bear City, with volunteer labor and donations from the community. The CAP Headquarters will also offer space to emergency groups during crisis situations. More donations are needed to be able to complete the building, so please contact CAP if you are able to help.
