The 2010 Amgen Tour of California Big Bear Lake Stage 6 is part of the largest cycling event in America. The Amgen is a Tour de France-style cycling road race, presented by AEG, that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams and the top professional riders, including 7-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to compete along a demanding course from May 16-23.
Stage 6 of the Amgen Tour or the “Big Bear Climb” will take place on Friday, May 21, when riders will race more grueling miles from Palmdale to Big Bear Lake. The race will pass by Crestline and Lake Arrowhead along the "Rim of the World" highway. Entering the Big Bear area, the riders will take the northern route around Big Bear Lake and then tackle the last rise to the finish at a more than 7,000-foot elevation at the Snow Summit ski area for the Amgen Tour of California’s first-ever alpine finish. This event looks to be the biggest thing ever to come to Big Bear with thousands of spectators expected and live television coverage to over 200 countries around the world.
Michael Rogers of Australia moved into the overall lead of the Amgen Tour of California on Friday with his second-place finish in the 6th stage that ran from Palmdale to Big Bear Lake.
