Big Bear Sheriff Deputies
& Detectives
Shortly after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday December 16th, the Big Bear Sheriff Deputies were
dispatched to a call of an apparent accidental shooting at a residence on the
40000 block of Big Bear Blvd. in Big Bear Lake. Upon arrival, deputies
discovered a 27-year-old male adult, identified as David Schweickert, at the 40000
block of Big Bear Boulevard location with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Schweickert was treated at the scene by paramedics of the
Big Bear Fire Paramedics and transported via ambulance to Loma Linda Medical
Center for further treatment. Big Bear
Sheriff Detectives will continue to investigate this matter.
According to the California
Department of Justice, there are six basic safety rules for firearms owners
to understand and practice at all times:
Treat all guns as if they are loaded;
Keep the gun pointed in the safest possible direction;
Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to
shoot;
Know your target, its surroundings and beyond;
Know how to properly operate your gun; and
Store your gun safely and securely to prevent unauthorized
use.
