August Classes for ZOO Docents & Volunteers

Friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo….

are seeking professionally minded volunteers with a strong work ethic, who are responsible, dedicated and can commit to a project.

The Volunteer Program is for people that enjoy learning about wildlife and the environment, and like working with people that feel the same. Some of the opportunities for a docent / volunteer would be:

·       Tours – Conduct or help with tours of the Zoo for schools, churches, camp groups, as well as visitors from around the world.

·       Zoo Roamer- Mingle with zoo guests, educating them on the animals. A Zoo Roamer also helps to enforce the rules of the zoo; this protects the resident animals and the public. Educating the public that we are different, we are a rehab facility.

·       Cashiers – Gift Shop & Snack Shack

·       Gardening

·       Kitchen – Preparing food

·       Maintenance – Painting, carpentry, handy person, etc.

·       Special Events – on and off site

·       Educational Programs – on and off site

·       Fundraising
