Valley Officials Insure Safety with Emergency Responders
San Bernardino ____ The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has begun
work to reconstruct the interchanges at Stoddard Wells, D Street, and E Street
and widen the Mojave River Bridge on Interstate 15 (I-15) in Victorville. The
$71 million project has been awarded to Ames Construction. Preliminary work is
taking place to clear brush, place construction signs, and secure the area from
any environmental issues such as endangered bird nesting and bat relocation.
Caltrans has been meeting with officials from the City
of Victorville and will be meeting officials from the City of Apple Valley and
emergency responders to insure the safety and success of the project and to mitigate
impacts to surrounding communities and businesses. A community meeting will
take place in the coming weeks to inform the nearby residents, businesses, and hospitals
of the construction plan and provide information to the Victorville and Apple
The project will require lane and ramp
closures and some full directional closures. The project is expected to be
completed by the end of 2018, weather permitting, with a one year landscape
plan following thereafter.
Ames Construction will be securing the
Stoddard Wells Bridge from the nesting of any endangered birds by installing
netting on the underside of the structure.
