WOMAN of the YEAR
Recognized by
Assemblyman Jay
Obernolte (R-Hesperia) has honored Dana Hernández of Victorville as the 33rd
Assembly District 2020 Woman of the Year.
The Woman of the Year ceremony is held annually and celebrates
California’s extraordinary women. The first ceremony was held in 1987 to help
commemorate Women’s History Month. The event has become an annual Capitol
tradition to salute women who have done outstanding community service. Honorees
are presented with a framed certificate from the State Assembly recognizing
their outstanding contributions.
“Dana’s commitment to the special needs community is admirable. It
is so impressive that Dana was able to turn her passion of working with kids
and families with disabilities into a successful non-profit that helps connect
these families with the resources they need,” said Assemblyman Obernolte.

Dana has also collaborated with the San Bernardino County
Sheriff’s Department to help them promote their “Safe at Home” program. This
program helps officers identify children and adults with special needs and
provides the sheriff’s department a better understanding on how to handle
situations that involve individuals with a disability. Through this successful
collaboration, sheriffs are able to safely reunite loved ones who may have run
away from their homes.
“I feel extremely honored that I was selected to be this year’s
Woman of the Year,” said Dana Hernández. “I am delighted that Assemblyman
Obernolte is recognizing my work with Rock’n Our Disabilities Foundation. Any
light we can shine on this foundation will help ensure that more families know
that these resources are available in their community.”
