Arrested Driver Pleas Not Guilty 


At 10:38 A.M. Monday morning, October 8, 2018, the California Highway Patrol (San Bernardino) made an arrest in the hit and run , fatality case of 14 year-old, female Jade Maldonado.

The fatal incident occurred at 7:10 A.M., IN San Bernardino, California, near Pacific Street and Glasgow Avenue, Friday, September 28, 2018.  Arrested was Charlean Larue Welch (55 year-old, San Bernardino), in connection with the fatal hit and run collision that killed Maldonado, a Pacific High School student walking in a crosswalk,  approximately 7:15 A.M.  Welch was driving a Tan, 2000, Chevy Suburban at the time of the collision. 


Wednesday, October 10, 2018 afternoon, Welch appeared in court, to enter a ‘not-guilty’ to a charge of a vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, resulting to a bail set at $500,000. 

The court records indicate Charlean Larue Welch has prior felony convictions.  Welch is scheduled for another court appearance on October 18, 2018.
