Single Vehicle Collision
Results in One Fatality
Saturday November 11, 2017, at 12:23 A.M., San Bernardino County Sheriff / Yucaipa Deputies responded to the area of Outer Highway 10 and Live Oak
Canyon Road regarding a single vehicle collision. The reporting party relayed
information that the vehicle was unoccupied. Sheriff Deputies arrived at the
location and confirmed the driver and passengers were not at the scene.
Through an investigation, it was determined 32-year-old, resident of Yucaipa Deann Weaver, was
the driver of the 2002 Silver Mazda Protégé, that had traveled east on Outer
Highway 10 approaching Live Oak Canyon Road. There were two passengers in the
vehicle with Weaver. Kyle Silva was seated in the rear and another passenger
was in the right front passenger seat. As Weaver’s vehicle approached the
intersection, the Mazda left the roadway and collided with a power pole.
After the collision, Weaver had an uninvolved party pick
them up and take them to the hospital, after realizing that Silva was unresponsive.
The parties took 36-year-old, Kyle Silva a resident of Calimesa, California, to
the Loma Linda University Medical Center,
where Silva later died of his injuries. The other passenger in the vehicle
sustained moderate injuries.
While the investigation is still ongoing, intoxication
appears to have been a contributing factor to the accident. Members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff Region I Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT)
responded to the collision scene to investigate.
