38 CLOSED Due to BRUSH Fire
July 6, 2018, discovered before 1:30 P.M. The VALLEY FIRE (Forest Falls Fire), a
vegetation wildfire has required immediate response from extended
**EXPANDED CLOSURE** HWY 38 IS CLOSED BETWEEN LAKE WILLIAMS IN BIG BEAR
AND BRYANT IN REDLANDS. USE ALTERNATE ROUTES
REMEMBER: DO NOT FLY DRONES IN THE AREA OF ANY FIRE AS IT CAN GREATLY HAMPER
AIR SUPPRESSION EFFORTS AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE LOSS OF PROPERTY OR EVEN LIVES!
Bernardino County Fire, US Forest Service, Calfire and additional air attack
plus ground crews have responded to the firefighting in the dry, rough terrain between
Angeles Oaks and Forest Falls.

UPDATE: Friday 5:02 P.M. – According to INCIWEB
(https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/) the VALLEY Fire has
spread to more than 200 acres.
Friday 4:44 P.M. – Incident Command Center requesting 4 additional
Air Tankers and continue with the 2 Tanksers. Strike Team enroute for structure
Friday 4:01 P.M. - State Route -38 is closed by CALTRANS,
from Forest Falls to, 5
miles east of Onyx Summit, advisable that motorists travel an alternate
LEFTBig Bear Airport General Manager Dustin Leno, watched a black funnel
cloud form south of Sugarloaf Mountain.
RIGHT Pamela Heiman captured the similar cloud from Big Bear Boulevard at
Pine Knot Avenue.
VALLEY FIRE is a vegetation fire that is located at SR-38 between Mountain Home
Village and Forest Falls.
Fighting Crews from several resources, with San Bernardino Forest Service
acting as the lead PIO (Public Information Official) to release the important/
from Big Bear Valley residents to Big Bear Lake NewsRoom, came in with concerns
about heavy smoke moving into southeast Big Bear City/Sugarloaf, then to a
black cloud over Big Bear Lake. Cell phones came in handy for several; we
received photos in the New Room.
