PUBLIC NOTICE |
Fire Restrictions Reduced - With the moderate weather, the San Bernardino National Forest will reduce fire restrictions on the forest effective Friday, October 23.
Under the reduced fire restrictions, wood and charcoal fires will once again be allowed in agency-provided campfire rings at designated campgrounds and picnic areas and sites operated under special use permits - they are allowed only in developed campgrounds and picnic areas, within agency-provided fire rings or designated stoves. Not permitted in Yellow Post campsites. Campfire permits are required for propane and gas stoves and lanterns used outside of developed recreation sites. Recreational shooting is limited to public shooting ranges operated under special use permit only. Fireworks prohibited.
An approved spark arrester is required for any internal combustion engine. Smoking is limited to enclosed vehicles and developed recreation sites.

2010 Amgen Tour of California |
The 2010 Amgen Tour of California is the largest cycling event in America. The Amgen is a Tour de France-style cycling road race, presented by AEG, that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams and the top professional riders, including 7-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to compete along a demanding course from May 16-23.
Stage 6 of the Tour or the “Big Bear Climb” will take place on Friday, May 21, when riders will race for more than 140 grueling miles from Pasadena to Big Bear Lake. This event looks to be the biggest thing ever to come to Big Bear with thousands of spectators expected and live television coverage to over 200 countries around the world.
