| Mexican Restaurant.
- Established in 1990, a familiar landmark among Big Bear Lake restaurants, Sonora Cantina welcomes travelers on Big Bear Boulevard. Gabriel & Maria Rojas became new owners in 2004 after working with the previous owners for 16 years. This Mexican restaurant has been a Big Bear custom with local residents and valley visitors who return for their favorites such as the authentic Mexican dishes accompanied by a great margarita.
- Whether you meet friends for lunch or an evening family fiesta, you will be greeted with big smiles from the cheery Sonora Cantina staff as they make everyone feel right at home. You will find the menu selections are ‘family affordable priced’ and daily, there are lunch and dinner specials. All the food is prepared with 100%vegatable oil. Begin your dining experience with a bowl of homemade menudo, the national soup of Mexico or fiesta platter of appetizers. Perhaps then a delicioso Fried Calamari Salad or a Carne Asada.
- Specialties de la Sonora Cantina include sizzling, fabulous Fajitas served in a cast iron pan and Arroz con Pollo. Word travels fast when the hearty heart orders the “Big Juan Burrito” stuffed full with four different meats, cheese, beans and rice. And if the big guy finishes the 5 pounder, within 45 minutes or less, he becomes an instant celebrity, winning a T-shirt proclaiming victory over “Big Juan”. Wonder if he’ll chase it with a 42-oz Big Juan Margarita?
- Along with fine dining, the Sonora Cantina is proud to serve their guests the ancient California Tequila, AsomBroso “The World’s Most Exclusive Tequila” There’s a large selection of other premium tequilas, also. The full-bar offers a wide selection of excellent drinks including an exotic selection of Martinis. Stop in for a sociable Happy Hour Monday thru Thursday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
- It is fiesta time all the time at Sonora Cantina operated by the Rojas family. Most of their menu selections are proudly made from old family recipes made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. The Rojas’ are well known for their generous contributions to the Big Bear community. Maria invites everyone, “Mi casa es su casa”.
