The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 8 is alerting the traveling public that the National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting sporadic rain in addition to snow in lower elevations to arrive Tuesday, February 5, throughout the day.

The last of three storms are expected to produce lower temperatures and possible snow levels down to 2,500 feet Winds up to 40 mph and low visibility is also expected during the storm.

Motorists should be aware that snow accumulation and ice may be possible on the following state highways:

• I-15 in the Cajon Pass and possibly the High Desert.

 

• All mountain routes CHAIN CONTROL IS ACTIVATED.

 

All District 8 highways are currently open except for State Route 2 (SR 2) from Vincent’s Gap to Islip Saddle, west of Mountain High Ski Resort toward Los Angeles County. You can access the ski resort via I-15 to State Route 138 to State Route 2.
