July 4th Fireworks Big Bear Lake

July 4^th Big Bear Lake Fireworks Display. What could be better during the hot month of July than driving to “cool” Big Bear Lake to watch the spectacular Fireworks which are considered to be one of the largest and best in Southern California. So come on up and join the Fun!

The Fireworks are sponsored by the Big Bear Lake Rotary Club and launched from a large barge on the east end of the lake. There are some additional fireworks launched from a barge near the Marina Riviera Resort where the Rotary Club holds their annual July 4^th BBQ. This is open to the public.

July 4^th is always a fun weekend in Big Bear Lake with many activities; it is one of the busiest weekends but if you leave plenty of time for travel it won’t be a problem. There are many vantage points to watch the Fireworks, one being the Rotary BBQ, but if you want to skip the BBQ you can drive to the Stanfield Cutoff at the east end of the lake and start looking for a parking place starting from the bridge and then turning left when you reach the north side of the lake. This is North Shore Drive and parking spots go quickly so you should plan to get there early, bring a picnic basket and blanket, find a good vantage point and relax until the Fireworks start. Always bring a jacket in case it turns cold when the sun sets.

For those lucky enough to have a boat, watching the Fireworks from a boat is better than an “E” Ticket at Disneyland. The light reflections on the water and the way the sound reverberates on the water makes it something you will remember for the rest of your life.

The Rotary Fireworks BBQ starts at 4: PM and the Fireworks begin at Dark. The menu includes your choice of steak or chicken, hot dog or hamburger and each meal comes with side dishes, a choice of soda or bottled water. There is a beer and wine garden. No Ice Chests, No Alcohol & No Pets. Everyone should bring their own chairs and blankets.

There could be a traffic jam when the fireworks are over, so it’s best to stay put, relax and wait till the rush is over.

For visitors leaving the mountain when the weekend is over, remember that there are three highways that lead out of Big Bear – the front way is Hwy 18/Hwy 330, this is a fast way down but when it is busy it gets jammed up so it’s better to take Hwy 38, this is longer but has far less traffic and will take less time in the long run. The third way down is the back way using Hwy 18 through Lucerne. This is the quickest way down the mountain. Below are links to maps and directions.
