Golfing in Big Bear in the summer is a cool experience, an escape from the hot temperatures
down below. At 7,000 feet, golfers can play comfortably in the mild summer weather,
not to mention that your ball will soar at this altitude.
The Bear Mountain Golf course is a 9-hole, mountain-style course located at the base
of the Bear Mountain Resort in the Moonridge meadow area. The course is good for
all levels of players, and there is a pro shop where you can rent golf clubs and
golf carts or buy the latest clothing and accessories. If you need a lesson the
pro shop offers reserved golf lessons.
The course also has a 300-yard driving range located on the north end of the course;
the hours fluctuate with the season so please check in advance. Reservations are
recommended for tee times, but are not required.
Remember that the sun is stronger at this altitude, so always wear sunscreen and
a hat. For visitors, there are many beautiful vacation rental homes and cabins within
walking distance that you can rent for two or more days at discounted summer prices.
