Coming April 28th
Employment Development
Dept
NEW CALL Center
Good News! We
have been pushing the State to devote more personnel and funding to ensure that
those economically affected by the coronavirus crisis have access to the Federal
and State unemployment benefits they’ve earned.
The Employment Development Department
(EDD) will launch a new call center on Monday that will operate 7 days a week from
8:00 A.M to 8:00 P.M. Those of you who have been struggling to get ahold of
this department regarding questions with your UI benefits, these extended hours
should help ensure that there’s a staff member available to answer your call.
Additionally for those who do not normally qualify
for UI benefits, a Pandemic Unemployment Insurance (PUA)
program has been set up to help:
Governor Newsom recently announced that this program will be
operational Tuesday, April 28th. PUA benefits will be issued within
24-48 hours – not the traditional 21 days for regular UI claims.
As always, my office remains committed to serving you. If you have any
questions or concerns about this issue or any other, please feel free to
contact my office at (760) 244-5277 or by email at Assemblymember.Obernolte@assembly.ca.gov
It is an honor to represent you.
