Holcomb Valley Campground is located in the historic Holcomb Valley, just
north of Big Bear Lake. In 1862, a grizzly hunter named Bill Holcomb discovered
gold just north of Bear Valley in what is known today as Holcomb Valley.
This family campground has 19 single-family campsites. All sites are first-come-first-serve
basis (no reservations). Holcomb Valley campground is located approximately 5 miles
north of Big Bear Lake off Forest Service Road 3N16. Although this campground is
open year round, vehicle access will be based on road conditions. Please contact
the Big Bear Discovery Center for current road conditions.
Each family campsite accommodates a maximum of 8 people and 2 vehicles per campsite.
Amenities include a picnic table, 1 fire ring, and vault toilets. A campground host
is on site from mid-May through October. To reach the campground take Van Dusen
Canyon for 4 miles then turn left.
In this historic area - Please Don’t Erase the Traces of America’s Past. Archeological
and historic sites hold clues to America’s past. If disturbed, a part of our heritage
may be lost forever. Sites and artifacts on public lands are protected by Federal
Law. If you discover such remains, please leave them undisturbed. Report your discoveries

Tent and RV Sites. Campground limit
14 days. Check-in time is 2:00PM. The nearest water is at Big Bear Ranger Station, 4 miles to HWY 38, west
2 miles. Campsite must be occupied 1st night. Pets must not be left unattended &
must be leashed at all times. Saddle, Pack & Draft Animals Prohibited in Campground.
Quiet time 10PM to 6AM. Adventure passes not valid in campgrounds.
