The
Holiday Luncheon is a Big Bear Valley tradition, provided by the devoted Rotary
Club of Big Bear Lake for twenty-eight years.
Approximately
four hundred guests the no-cost-to-Seniors, full-course Turkey Dinner with
additional amenities; such as meeting long-time friends and meeting new ones.
Masters
of Ceremony Johnny Wells and Denis Thomas, as well as Troubadour Art Harriman
kept the enthusiasm of the Christmas Season enjoyable for everyone. The Bear
Valley Elementary School Choir performed with Christmas melodies. A special commemoration of Pearl Harbor Day
75th Anniversary, December 7, 1941 was recognized. The Wednesday
afternoon event was one of entertainment, joy and well wishes.
The
Rotarians have several ways to help defray
the cost of the annual event.

This year thirty-seven Table Sponsorships (@ $100)
helped to finance the Luncheon. Many Seniors received Christmas gifts provided
by active Rotarians, who donated a gift, gift basket or gift card (valued at
$25 or more) to be given away.
An estimated one-hundred
twenty-five or more gifts were given, as each name was picked from a drawing of
all dinner guests’ names. Fifty table décor Poinsettias were
also given away at the conclusion of the Luncheon.
