Wednesday December 20th, Assemblyman Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia) honored Mike Benson from Bear Valley Unified School District as the Outstanding Teacher of the Month for the 33rd Assembly District.

 

Benson has taught English for more than twenty years at Big Bear High School.  Teacher Benson has been passionate about incorporating technology into his curriculum and his students have 100% use of electronic devices in the classroom. Benson teaches AP English, Honors English, Literature and Freshman English classes; in addition, to serving on a number of committees such as the District Technology Committee. Mike Benson also donates his time outside the classroom to Big Bear Valley community. Benson volunteers as a youth soccer coach and is Head Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 49. 

 

“Teacher Mike Benson is passionate about education and the community,” Obernolte stated. “He has dedicated over twenty years to educating future generations, and also volunteers outside the classroom to youth in our community. It is my honor to recognize him as the ‘Outstanding Teacher for the Month’ of December.”
