Ron loved boating on Big Bear Lake
We’ll miss Ron so very much…
Ron Cotta passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021,
while a patient at Desert Regional Medical Center, Palm Springs, CA. Ron is
survived by his wife and longtime companion, Patti and son Johnny Cotta. Ron
leaves a sister, Joanne Scott of Redding, CA and a brother, Jim Flannagan of
Temecula.
Ronald Anthony Cotta was born January 11, 1944 to
Tony and Mary Sousa Cotta in Visalia, California. Ron’s school days and growing
up years were in Torrance, CA.
Ron and Patti married in Palos Verdes, California
forty-seven years ago. They resided in Redondo South Bay until they relocated
in Big Bear Lake thirty-plus years ago. Many acquaintances and long friendships
have been made at the family-owned Johnny’s Ski & Board House, located in
west Big Bear Lake.
In 1967 Ronald Anthony Cotta enlisted and served
in the U.S. Army and later the Army National Guards. The Cotta Family are supportive of Veterans
programs and events.
Ron Cotta became a member of the Redondo Beach
ELKS. In 2011 Ron was initiated into the Big Bear Lake
ELKS; serving as Exalted Ruler during years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. Just
recently, he was voted in as the 3-Year Trustee, as well as, appointed as ELKS
Membership Chairman.
Also, Ron was a member of other service
organizations such as the Redondo Beach Yacht Club as Commodore, the American
Legion - Redondo Beach, and as Administrator of the Redondo Beach Moose Lodge
and currently active in the Fawnskin, California Moose Lodge.

Celebration of Life for Ronald Anthony Cotta to be at the Big Bear Lake ELKS
Lodge, located at west end of Village Drive, Saturday, December 18th
at 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the ELKS - Purple Pig.
