June 30, 2013 in a raging wildfire Fire Fighters fought to
save the Arizona town of Yarnell, from being destroyed.
Today,
Tuesday June 30, 2015, two years after the 19 wildland Fire Fighters lost their
lives, several hundred of families and friends gathered for a memorial to honor
the fallen crew. They gathered to pay tribute to the Granite Mountain
Hotshots who perished in the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire. In the small town of Yarnell, where the
fire forced hundreds of people to flee, destroyed 127 homes along State Route
89.
Tuesday,
very distinctly the ringing of a bell 19 times was heard while those gathered
observed a somber moment of silence shortly before 5:00 P.M, around the same
time the Forest Hotshots succumbed to the blaze that surrounded them.
