January 12, 2022, Wednesday afternoon San Bernardino County Fire Firefighters were dispatched 4:35 P.M. to a reported commercial fire located in Adelanto near Baldwin & Hardy Streets.  The Crews arrived to find a large commercial yard well involved in the large blaze. Multiple exposures, including a strip mall, multiples homes and old fire station #321 were threatened by the large fire.

Arriving firefighters mounted a defensive fire attack, working away from downed power lines by the fire and keeping fire from spreading to the adjacent buildings. Due to the large fire and threats, a second alarm was quickly requested. Limited water supply and downed power lines hampered firefighting efforts.

Two buildings were destroyed in the fire, including Fire Station #321, which served the Adelanto area for many years. An agricultural supply company building sustained heavy losses to their products and yard. Despite heavy fire conditions, power lines down and a limited water supply, San Bernardino County Fire Firefighters were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to a nearby strip mall and nearby homes.

Southern California Edison responded to mitigate the downed power lines. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were sustained. It took nearly three hours to gain the upper hand on the fire.

*San Bernardino County Fire Department responded with six Engines, two Truck Companies, three Chief Officers, two water tenders, an Air/Light Unit, a heavy equipment team, while both the Victorville and Apple Valley Fire Departments assisted, as well.

San Bernardino County Fire Mike McClintock, Battalion Chief / PIO, “Thanks to our cooperators for their assistance and hard work.”
