# 1 INCIDENT
INCIDENT:
Arrest Following Vehicle Pursuit
LOCATION:

Shortly
before 10:30 P.M. Monday night, San Bernardino County/Big Bear Sheriff Deputies
conducted a traffic stop on a red Ford Mustang at Fox Farm Road and McAllister
Road for failure to stop at a posted stop sign. The driver of the vehicle
failed to yield, initiating a vehicle pursuit in the residential neighborhood
of Fox Farm.
The
driver, identified as Noe Castro, reached speeds of approximately 70 miles per
hour. Castro eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Avalon Road and
Catalina Road in Big Bear Lake.
Castro
was arrested without further incident and his vehicle was towed. Castro remains
in custody on felony charges of evading a peace officer and disregard for
public safety in lieu of $100,000 bail. An arraignment hearing in this matter
is set for Wednesday October 29, 2014.
# 2 INCIDENT
INCIDENT: Pursuit Intervention Technique Results in
Felony Arrest
LOCATION: State Route 38 at Angeles Oaks
SUSPECT: Stephen Cano, 31-year-old HMA
VICTIM: People of the State of California
At approximately 5:00 A.M. this morning, a San
Bernardino County/Big Bear Sheriff Deputy heard screaming
coming from the Travelodge in Big Bear Lake, while conducting a check of the area near Big
Bear Boulevard and Cienega Road.
The Sheriff Deputy determined the disturbance to be
a physical altercation between a male and female. As the deputy made contact
with the female involved in the incident, he noticed a male subject get into a
vehicle and sped away from the location heading east on Big Bear Boulevard.
Additional deputies responded to the incident and
located the vehicle near Bartlett Road and Village Drive. The driver of the vehicle
failed to yield, initiating a pursuit. A records check of the license plate was
conducted and the vehicle was found to be stolen.
The vehicle continued east on Big Bear Boulevard at
speeds nearing 90 miles per hour. Sheriff Deputies followed the vehicle onto SR-38 toward Onyx Summit. Yucaipa Sheriff Deputies
assisted with the pursuit and deployed a spike strip on
SR-38 in Angeles Oaks. Also, Big
Bear Deputies performed a pursuit intervention technique that effectively stopped
the vehicle in Angeles Oaks.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Stephen
Cano, was taken into custody without further incident and booked on felony
charges of spousal abuse, possession of a stolen vehicle, evading a peace
officer, and disregard for public safety. Cano remains in custody in lieu of
$100,000 bail. An arraignment hearing in this matter is set for October 30, 2014 at San Bernardino County Superior Court.
