AAUW Big Bear Valley President Sara Tully,

The American
Association of University Women (AAUW) was founded in 1891 with the
mission of promoting equity for women and girls through education, advocacy and
research. The organization is now over 100,000 strong and membership is open to
individuals having an AA degree or higher from an accredited institution.
AAUW Big Bear Valley Branch was formed in 1983 and
has been growing steadily ever sin ce. What characterizes our branch is that
while members strongly believe in our mission, we also just enjoy time together:
building friendships, sharing thoughts, supporting each other and the
community…and having fun!
We have a variety of
interest groups, all optional and including writing, literature, games, craft
classes, golf and hiking in the summer, snowshoeing/skiing in the winter, and
more. Dine-outs and parties with or without spouses/friends are scheduled every
6 to 8 weeks. Our Lunch and Learn series and special presentations support the
mission and help to inform the Big Bear Valley.
AAUW Big Bear Valley‘s fundraising
activities are easy and non-stressful, but we do encourage everyone to
participate. The proceeds benefit three main programs: scholarships, Tech Trek,
and Speech Trek.

fundraising that had the
largest number of unique donations totaled as of December
1, 2015.
