State Route 18 at Arctic Circle  

WINTER PREP Work Begins October 1st

 

 

September 14, 2018____

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 8, SAN BERNARDINO, will once again start work to prepare State Route 18 (SR-18) at the Arctic Circle  in the San Bernardino Mountains, Monday, October 1 until Friday, October 26, 2018.  The project is to complete routine maintenance operations to prepare the route for Winter safe travel.

Caltrans Maintenance Crews’ efforts are to split into daytime and nighttime work hours to alleviate some of the impacts with all daytime work.

Caltrans Maintenance operations will include slope scaling, turnout clearance, drain cleaning, sign repair and replacement, guardrail repair and other related work. 

 

Motorists are advised to use State Route -38 as an alternate route to and from the Big Bear Valley area.
