Near Cross Roads at State Route 38

A vegetation fire was noticed in the State Route 38 / Bryan Street/Cross streets [GPS] Mill Creek, and reported at approximately 2:00 P.M Thursday August 4th.

By AUG 3 3:23 P.M. the Bryant Fire is burning near Mill Creek and Thurman Flats. The fire size is estimated to be more than 10 acres, with a moderate rate of spread. Structure protection groups being formed.

CALTRANS reports that State Route 38 is closed at Bryant due to the Brant Fire, burning near Mill  Creek.

A Lake Williams at Big Bear City (Erwin Lake) the CHP set up a hard closure of State Route 38.

Due to the Fire gaining ground near the Redlands- State Route 38, a hard closure was ordered there as well. Traffic was turned around.

Per CAL FIRE BDU FIRE is now at 150 acres with  moderate rate of spread at .0 % containment

San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputies – Yucaipa Division responded to reports of a vegetation fire on State Route 38, north of Bryant Street.

 

Shortly after arriving, the Deputies observed a vehicle in the area where the fire originated and made contact with the driver. The driver was identified as Jarrod Samra and detained for further investigation.







SB County Sheriff Deputies conducted an additional investigation including an interview. Jarrod Samra was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for PC451 – Arson. Bail has been set at $250,000.  







No additional information will be released at this time, as this is an active investigation.
