San Bernardino ____ California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) began preventative maintenance repairs on State Route 18 (SR-18) in various locations from Hilltop Boulevard in Running Springs to south of Lakeview Point near the Arctic Circle on May 22.

Straight-edge grinding over the final pavement repairs will take place on Monday, July 24th and Tuesday July 25th to provide a smoother driving surface for motorists. Work continues to repair the $2.3 million pavement rehabilitation project which took place last year. Flagging will continue during the work hours.

Caltrans expects delays during the flagging operation and will have Caltrans staff on scene

with CHP to monitor traffic and minimize the delays to the motoring public and community.

As always, check traffic conditions on the Caltrans QuickMap at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ before your trip.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, add extra time to their commute, and

consider alternate routes to avoid the work.
