   Responds to Empty

Budget Spot Bills

Friday April 29, 2016, in Sacramento, California the Assembly Budget Committee Vice Chair Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia) today released the following statement in response to the Assembly’s passage of 40 empty budget spot bills:

“Earlier this month, California received a failing grade for spending transparency.

Now, the Legislature is playing another fiscal shell game by passing empty budget bills

We need to reform the budget process by requiring budget bills to be in print for 72 hours before a vote is taken.  Hard-working Californians deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent. It is time to stop the backroom deals and bring spending decisions out into the open.”
