Saturday afternoon February 21, the Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library will host a book signing event. Big Bear Valley’s author Shirley A. Martin will present her recently released book, Bloodline Gypsy .

If you’ve dined at the Teddy Bear Restaurant, located on Pine Knot Avenue in the Village of Big Bear Lake, you’ve probably met Shirley Martin somewhere in her thirty years of working at the landmark establishment. Inspired by the beauty of the San Bernardino Mountains; her story weaves through the streets and forests of the Valley. Martin’s somewhat gritty thriller depicts a fresh new take on werewolves and their mysterious link to gypsies. Infused with science, history and legend, Bloodline Gypsy proves to be an ‘on the edge of your seat adventure!

As well as being a recognized author, Martin is an artist and has displayed in various art shows. Her Charcoal sketching of The Stampede was chosen three years ago, for the Cowboy Gathering of Big Bear Valley.

Elaine W. Trei, also an artist with The Arts Council of Big Bear Valley says about her friend, ‘All of her paintings draw the viewer into the painting and hold the viewer’s attention in the landscapes. She definitely knows how to use shapes and designs to make the painting speak to the viewer.’
