SLOPE REPAIRS

 

Complete by Sunday

 

 

Friday, April 5, 2019, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District #8 announced that the State Route 18 (SR-18) south of the Bridge at Big Bear Lake, in the anticipation of the completion of the emergency Slope Stabilazation repairs to be completed Sunday, April 7th.  

 

Inclement weather may affect the completion date, Sunday. Caltrans will finish the work, within the next following days. For the remainder of the roadwork, there will be a one-way flagging operation with an occasional 30-minute full closure in the area.

The contractor will continue to work from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. After 5:00 P.M. the roadway will be fully open in both directions.

EDITOR’s NOTE:  Caltrans engineers and maintenance crews became aware of

the large boulder slope area, very near the roadside, that was obviously

damaged during the February Valentines Day Snow Storm including the following

rain and snow storms, and took charge to repair the area, immediately.

Winter’s, storms, February & March 2019 caused slope damage to many areas along

State Route 18, such as the boulders on the southside of the Big Bear Lake Bridge.
