Big Bear Lake Mourns Passing of CHERI HAGGERTY LAWRENCE

evening, November 25th City of Big Bear Lake City Clerk Cheri
Haggerty Lawrence, age 35, tragically passed away after suffering complications
related to pregnancy, as she was working in her office. Neither Ms. Haggerty
nor her newborn son Declan, survived valiant emergency medical measures to
revive their lives at Bear Valley Community Hospital.
Ms.
Haggerty Lawrence, the wife of David Lawrence, Public Works Director for the
City of Big Bear Lake, was one of the most beloved and respected members of Big
Bear Valley. She possessed an undergraduate degree from California State
University at Fullerton and Masters Degree from Chapman University.
Ms.
Haggerty Lawrence was perhaps the most highly visible face of the City
workforce, and known for her sterling involvement in every aspect of community
life. She served as the appointed City
Clerk and handling many collateral responsibilities including Public
Information Officer, Inter-Government Relations Manager ,Webmaster and part of
the City’s 24/7 Emergency Team. Cheri’s exemplary community involvement
included having a hand in virtually every Special Event occurring in Big Bear Lake
including the Tour of California, Special Olympics, Christmas in the Village,
and the full spectrum of athletic competitions provided by Open Air Big Bear,
as well as the coordinating and providing the opportunity for Veterans of the

In
Cher’s personal life, she actively participated in dozens of charitable
fundraisers, school district educational programs, and help lead youth ski team
events.
Jeff
Mathieu, City Manager for the City of Big Bear Lake, stated “This is a shock
for all of us in Big Bear. We’re a tightly knit community, and know that we
have lost a cherished love one that was so young, vibrant and caring. It is
impossible to comprehend that Cheri and baby Declan could be taken from us. Our
thoughts and prayers are with Cheri’s daughter Kaelee, son Aiden, husband
David, parents Bob and Peggy Frost and their family members at this sad time”.

services have not been finalize but will be announced on this news media as
soon as they are confirmed.
