Injured in Collision While  Responding to A Fatal Collision

Thursday, April 25, 2019 near Rim Forest, California, at approximately 12:53 P.M., an Arrowhead Regional Headquarters California Highway Patrol Officer responded to a fatal traffic collision that occurred on State Route 18. The Highway Patrolman was responding with the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren activated, southbound on SR-18 near Pine Avenue.

For reasons still under investigation, a red Chevrolet Sonic made a left turn from Pine Avenue onto SR-18, directly into the path of the responding officer, resulting in a collision. After the initial collision, the CHP Officer veered his unit to the right, in an attempt to avoid a parked vehicle. The CHP vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder of State Route 18.

The Highway Patrol Officer was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.

This collision is under investigation by the Arrowhead Regional Headquarters California Highway Patrol, located in Running Springs, California.
