Threats Americans Face Daily

Monday March 28, 2016

Washington D.C. ____Representative Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) issued the following statement on the incident at the United States Capitol:

"Swift action on the part of law enforcement ended today’s incident quickly. This underscores the importance of law enforcement as the first responders to any domestic attack. I applaud their heroic actions in keeping safe the innocent people visiting our nation’s Capitol building.

While the facts are still forthcoming, this incident underscores the real threats we face in America. Whether it turns out to be the action of a deranged individual or part of a larger plot, it doesn’t change the fact that the first duty of government is keeping America safe. I’ll continue fighting to ensure that our law enforcement, military, and first responders have the resources they need to stop criminals in their tracks.”

Congressman Paul Cook is a member of the House of Armed Services, Natural Resources, and Foreign Affairs Committees, Cook served as an infantry officer and retired as a Colonel after 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal with valor device and two Purple Hearts for actions in combat.
