The Big Bear Cowboy Gathering is a celebration of western heritage
and cowboy life through performances in cowboy poetry and music.
E.T. Russell, June 17, 2013 ____ The 14th Annual Cowboy Gathering is scheduled for Friday June 21, Saturday June 22, and Sunday June 23. At ‘The Cave’ (new venue), the 2013 Big Bear Cowboy Gathering will feature headliner western entertainers making a come-back. Opening Night much loved Gary Robertson will perform with his poetry and tales of life on the trails. Be ready for some hearty laughing when Sourdough Slim turns on his hilarious comic yarns. It’s another Cowboy Gathering tradition to feature western musicians. This year the Open Range Trio will present their ‘spirit of the west’ music. Making another return to the event will be Cowgirl Nancy Lee serenading between shows at the outdoor Western Vendors. Daytime Friday through Sunday there will be an outdoor adventure at the Western Vendors next to The Cave. Merchants will display their unique clothing, jewelry and artistic wares.
The VIP Cowboy Luncheon will be held Saturday at the Wine Room at Wolf Creek Resort, located on Big Bear Boulevard. Beginning at noon, the BBQ luncheon will be an opportunity to meet the performers. Reservations must be made with tickets at $35 each, that include a Cowboy collector pin, mini show and one beverage.
Sunday morning Cowboy Church is open to the public at in the outdoor area where vendors, sometimes referred to as the Christmas Tree corner. The service will begin at 9:00 A.M. Cowboy Church has been the traditional closure of the season, for the friends and families of the Cowboys and the staff that have come together for fourteen years.
All of the Cowboy Gathering events will take place on the property of the CAVE, located at 40789 Village Drive in Big Bear Lake. The CAVE is the newly remodeled Village Theater building.
