Evading a Peace Officer to JAIL

Yucaipa Police Officers & San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched on a Domestic Violation Report and Violence Restraining Order, early Thursday June 1 at 1:20 A.M.

The suspect was identified as Leonard Gerra of Redlands, California. Gerra had made comments to the victim causing the victim to believe he may attempt to harm or injure the victim.

During the Thursday morning investigation, Sheriff Deputies observed Gerra driving in the area of the victim’s residence and initiated a traffic stop. Gerra failed to yield and led Deputies on a pursuit through Mentone, Redlands, Highland, north on State Route 330 and to State Route 18.

Spike-strips were deployed by Big Bear Sheriff Deputies, that soon after were successful at stopping  Gerra’s vehicle. The pursuit came to a halt in Big Bear Lake at Simonds Drive and Big Bear Boulevard (near Big Bear Marina).

Gerra was arrested without incident and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for felony violation of a domestic violence restraining order, felony evading and for a felony no-bail warrant for corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant.
