Redlands East Valley High School

Student 15-year old Arrested  

  

Thursday, January 31, 2019, a Redlands East Valley High School student reported to school officials that another student was in the possession of a firearm and ammunition at a Redlands East Valley High School campus. Immediately the school resource officer notified the San Bernardino County Sheriff. The suspect was detained on campus.

 A search of the 15-year-old male student discovered that he was in possession of a gun in his backpack.  The firearm and a magazine with ammunition were taken into custody of the Sheriff Deputies. The suspect brought his step-father's gun to the campus in his backpack and showed it to a friend.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Investigators assumed the investigation. A search warrant was served at the suspect's residence and recovered another firearm from the home, which belonged to the suspect's step-father, as well.

Redlands East Valley High School is located in the city of Redlands on Colton Avenue.   

The suspect was arrested for a felony, PC 626.9(b)- Possession of a Firearm on a School Campus and booked at the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no evidence of an immediate threat on the school campus.
