CHILD SAFETY Seat
“If you have a little one on the way, are unsure if your seat
is installed correctly, or you just want some advice, then this is the place to
be!”states a CHP Enforcement Officer, who recently became a father again.
Saturday August 29th beginning at 9:00 A.M. until
2:00 P.M., the California Highway Patrol
will be co-hosting with the Big Bear Mom
& Dad Project a Child Safety Seat Event at The Convention Center at
the Big Bear Lake, located at Big Bear
Boulevard and Division Road.
At the Saturday morning event, there will be several ‘fitting stations’ with nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. The trained personnel will evaluate child
safety seats and give recommendations, as well as check for recalls. If a car seat is expired, recalled, or
defective, and parents meet certain requirements, a grant funded seat may be
awarded to the family. These seats are
made possible by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
The Child Safety Seat Event is not just for parents
with children, but also for parents–to-be.
When children under age 8 years old, are not properly
secured in a vehicle, the parent or driver could receive a traffic citation from law enforcement, in
addition to ‘one point’ on their driving record. The Convention Center at the Big Bear Lake street address is
42900 Big Bear Boulevard.
