U.S. Representative Paul Cook (CA-08) sent a letter to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Acting Administrator Chris Pilkerton requesting both Kern and San Bernardino counties be classified as disaster areas to further support the communities impacted by the earthquakes that occured July 4, 2019 and few days that followed.

This action would allow significant resources from the SBA Office of Disaster Assistance to aid individuals and their communities during the recovery process.

Representative Paul Cook said, “Though it’s been a month since the earthquakes struck Southern California, residents of Trona and surrounding communities continue to be seriously impacted by its effects. I will continue working to ensure that my constituents receive the assistance they need to recover from this disaster. I’d like to thank the President for ordering federal assistance to augment state and local help and hope that the Small Business Administration quickly approves this Disaster Designation.”
