Ends in
Arrest of Angry Tenant
Big
Bear Sheriff Deputies responded to a call of a disturbance at Big Bear Resort
Management in the 41000 block of Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake. Wednesday
January 14th just before 1:00 P.M., a tenant
identified as Michael Gillespie, at the location, became agitated when he was
asked to move out of a rental property.
As
deputies arrived on scene, they observed Gillespie, known to deputies from
prior law enforcement contact, speeding away from the business in a red Nissan
Pathfinder. Gillespie failed to yield to a traffic stop, initiating a vehicle
pursuit.
Deputies
followed Gillespie into the Snow Summit parking lot where the pursuit became
unsafe due to the amount of pedestrians at the resort. Deputies lost visual
contact with Gillespie, but believed he would attempt to make his way down the
hill.
With
the assistance of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aviation Division and Sheriff
Deputies from Twin Peaks and Highland, Gillespie was located on State Route 330
in Running Springs.
Gillespie
was reported to be driving erratically at speeds up to 50 miles per hour.
Deputies successfully engaged the use of a spike strip on Gillespie’s vehicle
near the Ranger Station on SR-330, puncturing three tires on the vehicle and
causing it to stop. Gillespie was taken into custody without further incident
and is awaiting to be booked at West Valley Detention Center.
