PURSUIT SR-18 North of PANORAMA POINT

Friday afternoon October 30, 2015, California Highway Patrol Officer Lomenick, ID 17673, attempted to make an enforcement stop on a white Lincoln Continental for having tinted windows (26708(a)(1) CVC) and no rear license plate (5200(a) CVC).

The Lincoln slowed and turned into a wide turnout at call box 18-156, but did not stop and continued into the number 2 lane of northbound State Route 18.  The Lincoln accelerated and utilized all northbound lanes in an attempt to evade.  Officer Lomenick activated the siren and advised dispatch of the pursuit.  The Lincoln reached speeds of approximately 70 miles per hour on SR-18.

The Lincoln transitioned to State Route 138 where it passed two vehicles across double yellow lines.  The Lincoln reached speeds of approximately 50 miles per hour on State Route 138.  The Lincoln veered left onto Crestline Cutoff.  Just east of Waterman Canyon Road the Lincoln pulled to the right and slowed.  Two juveniles exited the right front and right rear of the Lincoln.

The right front passenger appeared to be a Hispanic female approximately 12 years of age.  The right rear passenger was a Hispanic male approximately 10 years of age.  The Lincoln again accelerated in an attempt to evade.  The Lincoln ran the stop sign at Crestline Road and again at Crest Forest Drive.  The Lincoln continued north on Cottonwood Drive and into the parking lot of the Crestline Water District located at 777 Cottonwood Drive.  At the end of the parking lot, while the vehicle was traveling at approximately 10 miles per hour, the driver of the Lincoln exited and fled on foot.  The Lincoln continued forward and collided into an unoccupied parked Nissan Xterra.

The CHP officer pursed the driver of the Lincoln on foot but was unable to apprehend the suspect.  A wants check on the VIN of the Lincoln showed the Lincoln was stolen from the city of San Bernardino October 15, 2015.  A loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun was located in the passenger compartment along with a glass smoking pipe.

A perimeter was established utilizing other CHP Officers and Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.  A canine officer arrived on the scene and after an extensive search the suspect was not located.  CHP Officers responded to the location where the juvenile's exited the Lincoln, but were unsuccessful in locating them.  The Lincoln was impounded for evidence.  CHP Officer Lomenick is handling the investigation.
