Spanish Franciscan Friar Father Junipero Serra

 

 ____ E T Russell    In commemoration of the Old Miners Days, the Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library will once again present a History Alive event, Saturday July 19, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at the Summit Christian Fellowship Church across the street from the Big Bear Lake Library.

The 2014 Chautauqua will be the fifteenth anniversary of the ‘History Alive’ performances. The Friends welcome Bruce Buonauro who will portray Father Junipero Serra, the Spanish Franciscan friar who founded a mission in Baja California and the first nine of 21 Spanish missions in California. Buonauro will provide historical and factual data about Father Serra as well as an introspective look into the man...his life, his personality, his humor and his humanity.

 

The Saturday evening Chautauqua program will be at the Summit Christian Fellowship Church and admission is free to the public. Afterwards, the Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library have invited guests to a reception at the Library located in Big Bear Lake at 41930 Garstin Drive.
