… City of Big Bear Lake
Pays Tribute to DICK KUN
E T Russell ____ Mayor Dave
Caretto and the Big Bear Lake City Council are delighted to invite the
community to help honor Dick Kun with a Special Tribute on April 27th
at 6:30 P.M. in Hofert Hall. This will acknowledge Dick for his incredible stewardship over the
last fifty plus years of operating Snow Summit, and several decades of
ownership of Bear Mountain.
The two resorts have been
exceptional anchors for the local economy. Dick’s insightful generation of
snowmaking, lift-line management and extreme customer-service, established Big
Bear Lake to be ‘the’ destination for close to a million skier and snowboarders
every year.
Dick was also instrumental in
creating the Resort Association, now known as the Visitors Bureau, to
accommodate, lodge and serve our over-night guests and those visiting for an
exciting day the mountain. He recognized the value of retail stores,
restaurants, service providers and lodging entities to being critical partners
to accommodate a full service resort town.
His community service endeavors
included Rotary Club of Big Bear, The Chamber of Commerce, and numerous local
organizations and causes. In additional Dick participation in state and
National ski and travel organization further established Big Bear Lake and a
substantial resort community.
The honorary tribute for Dick Kun will occur on Monday,
April 27th at 6:30 P.M. at the
Hofert Hall within the City of Big Bear Lake Civic Center located at 39707 Big
Bear Blvd. For those that don’t attend, may want to tune into the local BBEAR
