County Sheriff Specialized Investigative Division is conducting a death investigation ____ Early morning Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at West
Valley Detention Center, Sheriff Deputies
entered the cell of the victim, Perla Alvarado, to clean it. The Deputies
believed that Alvarado was asleep, however, noticed that she was unresponsive
and cold to the touch. Medical staff arrived and rendered life-saving
measures; however, she was pronounced deceased. Alvarado was housed in a
one-person cell.
San Bernardino County Sheriff Homicide
Investigators responded to the detention center to conduct the
investigation.
Perla Alvarado had been arrested on February 27, 2019, for PC368(B)(1)
Elder Abuse.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office to
determine the cause of death.
No additional information is available for release at this time. Updates
will be provided as new information becomes available.
