California Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision call on State Route 18 near Big Bear Lake, Tuesday September 8th early evening. The down-pour of hail followed by heavy rain hit the west area of the mountain, extremely hard causing travelers dangerous driving conditions.

Sixty-six year-old Shoichi Fujimoto was traveling south on SR-18 when suddenly his 1993 Toyota Tercel collided with a large boulder, falling onto the roof of the vehicle. Fujimoto was immediately assisted by passing Cal-Fire personnel.

CHP officer located the vehicle on State Route 18, one mile south of Glory Ridge. It was determined that the vehicle had been damaged by rockslides from the mountainside and debris scattered on the road.

Big Bear Fire also responded and transported the resident of San Bernardino man to Bear Valley Community Hospital, with injuries to his right shoulder and chest pains.

Details of the collision aren't available as emergency and traffic patrol was limited because of the dangerous situation as depicted in the video. Investigation is assigned to the CHP Arrowhead Headquarters in Running Springs.
