13, 2020 Late Afternoon
Dear
Bear Valley Unified School District Families and Staff:
As
you are aware many schools throughout California have recently closed due to
Novel Coronavirus COVID 19 outbreaks in their communities. Although, we do not
have current cases of Novel Coronavirus COVID 19 reported in San Bernardino
County or in Bear Valley Unified, the health and safety of our students, staff
and our surrounding community is a priority. After careful consideration, we
have decided to close all of our schools to protect our students and community.
Fortunately,
we have six snow days that we have saved and five days of Spring Break during
the next month. Using these snow days and Spring Break days and adding nine
additional days off, we will close Bear Valley Unified Schools from Monday, March 16th through
Friday, April 10, 2020. All schools in Bear Valley Unified School District,
inclusive TK-12th grade and preschool will be closed for four (4) weeks. Unless
the local authorities notify us to extend the school closures, schools will
resume on Monday, April 13, 2020.
During
this period of ‘social distancing’ supplemental instructional materials and
assignments will be posted online and if necessary, packets may be provided to
those without online access. Your school site and teachers will contact you
with the details.
Since
schools will be closed, please consider alternate care for your student or talk
with your employer about sick leave and telework options in case you need to
stay home with your child.
Please discourage children and teens from gathering in other public
places while school is dismissed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in the
community.
Bear
Valley Unified School District has remained in constant contact with the San
Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and local health officials about
the most current developments. We are following guidance provided by the
California Department of Education and the California Department of Public
Health, and we will continue to share that information immediately with staff,
families and students via email, text, phone, websites and social media.

About
Children Keeping HEALTHY
Monday, March 9,
2020, the Bear Valley Unified Schools District issued a Letter to
Parents, regarding the Novel Coronavirus concern.
Dear
Bear Valley Unified Parents and Guardians,
As
with all health-related issues, our administrators have been working closely
with San Bernardino County Public Health to ensure student and staff safety.
As
of March 9, there are no confirmed cases in San Bernardino County. The risk to
San Bernardino County residents and the general public is still low, at this
time. We can assure you that our staff is doing everything in their power to
keep school sites disinfected and clean for all students and staff. It is our
standard protocol to perform routine surface cleaning throughout our school
sites and offices daily.
We
are encouraging all students and staff to frequently wash their hands, to cover
their nose and mouth
when sneezing and coughing, and to stay home if they are sick.
We
understand the Novel Coronavirus is a concern for many of our parents. We will
continue to provide further updates from the CDC and San Bernardino Public
Health as they become available. If you have any questions or concerns, please
speak with your school principal.
Additional
resources are available on our website. Thank you,
Lucinda
