Saturday evening, April 20, 2019, Arrowhead California Highway Patrol officers responded to a call reporting an incident of a solo motorcycle traffic collision that occurred at approximately 7:58 P.M.  At State Route-18, near Crestline, California, at the 4,000-foot level /mile post marker 16.00.

A 38-year-old male, a resident of San Bernardino, California was driving a white 2015 Ducati 1299 motorcycle, travelling northbound on SR-18 at an undetermined speed. 

 

Gladys Guevara, a 29-year-old female and a resident of Colton, California was riding  as a passenger on the motorcycle. The Ducati was travelling in the #2 lane, attempting to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Ducati lost control, causing both riders to be ejected.

The Ducati motorcycle and its riders subsequently slid across the #1 lane and collided with the center guardrail.

The Ducati driver suffered major injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The passenger, Gladys Guevara suffered major injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

 

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in this collision. California Highway Patrol Officer Nitto, #21720 is handling the investigation to its conclusion.
