 â€‹Mr. & Mrs. Mac McHardy

Long-time resident of Big Bear Lake, ‘Mac’ McHardy passed away peacefully, May 15th, 2015. Alexander ‘Mac’ McHardy was born October 9, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan.  After serving four years in the United States Air Force, Mac returned to civilian life in California, where he worked for ABC Radio.

While on vacation in Rome, Italy in 1974, Mac met his future wife. Mac and Susan were married six months later, April 6, 1975.  The McHardy’s became residents of Big Bear Lake on their second year anniversary. Over the years Mac and Susan became a well-known team in the local real estate industry from which Mac retired in 2006, but supported his wife who is with ReMax of Big Bear Lake, today.

Mac’s interests and talents were many and varied. He always enjoyed an invigorating game of golf but the tranquility while drawing and painting was a favorite, as well. Other more strenuous activities of Mac’s were hunting, water and snow skiing and dirt-biking.

But his greatest passion was traveling with Susan and they truly travelled the world. Mac’s life was a life well lived, with the major time of a long and happy marriage. The McHardy’s recently celebrated 40 wonderful years together.

Susan McHardy comments “We wish to thank Mark Kaliher, the nurses and the staff at Bear Valley Community Hospital for their care and kindness to us during the difficult last year of Mac’s illness.”

‘Mac’ McHardy will be so missed by his many friends and colleagues in Big Bear Valley. Survived by his wife Susan, Mac leaves his sister Sally McNutt of Shalimar, Florida.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held Sunday July 12, 2015, 4:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church located at 1001 Holden Avenue (east of Division on the northwest corner of North Shore Drive) in Big Bear City.
